Surroundings
Marbella is one of the original Costa del Sol resorts, famous by becoming a playground for Europe's rich and famous. Only 30 minutes away from Malaga airport, it is very easy to reach and is a popular destination for millions of people every year.
Throughout the old town, small plazas lined with local bars and orange trees add to the traditional feel. The Sierra Bermeja Mountains rise up behind the resort and are ideal for exploring by 4x4 or on foot; plenty of viewpoints provide opportunities to see the two and a half mile coastal spread that is Marbella.
Within a ten minute walk you will arrive to the El Rosario commercial centre. Here you will find:
A supermarket, a car hire, a tennis club with a gym, a Spanish restaurant, a dry cleaners, a hairdresser, an Italian restaurant/takeaway, a newsagent, a bakery/cafe and more. If that's not enough, you can always drive 5 minutes to the Elviria commercial centre of 10 minutes to La Canada, a shopping mall with hundreds of shops, cinemas, restaurants etc.
Oh yeah...the beach
The beach is renowned as the best beach in Marbella. You can walk to the beach in 30 minutes, or less than 3 minutes by car. The beach is sandy, with a variety of beach restaurants. Lounges and umbrellas can be rented on the beach.
If you walk another 5 minutes, you get to Bono's beach, with has the comfortable double four poster lounges, as well as a great bar/restaurant. There is a famous tennis club, four restaurants, a bar, two coffee shops, a supermarket and a car rental...this all within the urbanisation! If you walk across the bridge towards the beach, you come to another trendy bar/restaurant, and of course the beach is littered with lovely Chirringuitos serving anything from salad to the best grilled seafood. For night life, Nikki beach is close, as well as Bono's beach, Marbella town and Puerto Banus.
Getting there
The easiest way to get here from abroad is by taking a flight to Malaga airport. The airport has been renovated some years ago and offers plenty of opportunities to rent a car or catch a bus or find a taxi (we definitely recommend getting a rental car). Once in the car, the drive to El Rosario is quite straightforward and takes no more than half an hour. Once you have made your decision and made the booking, we will supply you with a detailed map of how to find the villa.
Activities
There is a wealth of activities which you can undertake in the area. Whether you are single and are looking to hit the night clubs and party scene, or whether you are looking to have family holiday with the kids, it´s all here at your doorstep. Don't worry...you won't have to drive far! The road network here is great and allows you to get around in no time.
Golf on the Costa del Sol needs no introduction. With over 40 golf courses, there is no shortage of them! From PGA championship courses such as Valderrama to beginner courses, there is something for everyone. Our villa is situated right next to the Marbella Club Golf course and the Santa Clara Golf resort. Five minutes' drive away to the west is the Rio Real Golf course, and five minutes to the east the Cabopino Golf course.
It's impossible to make a full list of things to do, as the area caters to so many different types of tourists from all around the world. Here are a few highlight which we think might interest you...if you don't find what you are looking for do not despair! We probably just haven't thought of listing it here!
Horseback Riding: If you love to horseback ride through beautiful scenery, canter along deserted, golden sandy beaches and explore miles of sweet smelling natural pine forest, then you have come to the right place..
Surfing: Tarifa has become known as 'the Wind Capital' for many different reasons. Its wind reliability probably tops them all. It is very difficult to have two consecutive non windy days!
